The Boiler Technology used at the Edenderry Plant is a bubbling fluidized bed (BFB) type. The fuel is introduced into a mixture of sand flowing at high temperatures, allowing the fuel to be efficiently combusted. This BFB combustion is characterized by keeping large thermal capacity of bed material, and can stably fire various kinds of fuel such as high-moisture or low-flammable fuel, this gives Edenderry flexibility on the specifications of fuel used meaning a variety of residual biomass materials can be employed in combustion.
